Surrounded by the ones they love most, Real Bride Caroline and Sam’s wedding day unfolded across two of the North West’s most quietly beautiful settings — the timeless stone interior of St Bridget’s Church in West Kirby, and the sweeping grounds of Soughton Hall in Northop. Their May celebration carried the particular warmth of a spring day done right: light, joyful, and full of the kind of moments that stay with you long after the flowers have faded.
From the Wirral coast to the Welsh countryside, Caroline and Sam brought their closest people together for a day that felt as considered as it did celebratory.
From the moment Caroline tried on Stella York Style 7711, she knew she had found her gown. The classic ballgown silhouette she had always envisioned was right there — full ivory satin skirt sweeping into a grand train, a structured strapless bodice, and a back that stopped everyone in the room: a sheer illusion corset with exposed boning channels traced in delicate pearl and crystal beading, all anchored by a sculptural detachable bow at the natural waist. At 5ft 11″, she walked out of the shop without a single alteration needed, the gown fitting her as though it had been made for her. The fabric-covered buttons running down the center back were exactly the thoughtful, understated detail she had been searching for — classic in every sense, and completely her.

CAROLINE, TELL US ABOUT YOUR PARTNER. HOW DID YOU MEET?
As cliché as it sounds, my husband Sam really is my best friend and greatest cheerleader. His warmth, free-spirited nature and playful energy have a way of putting anyone at ease and brightening a room the moment he walks in. We met through an old colleague of mine, who was living with Sam as his housemate at the time, and she introduced us back in 2019.
WHAT WAS YOUR PROPOSAL LIKE?
In January 2025, we spent a couple of days in Edinburgh after New Year, and we went for a walk up Arthur’s Seat on a crisp, blue-sky day with little smatterings of snow on the ground — when Sam got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was such a beautiful day and a moment I’ll never forget.
DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE.
I always knew I wanted a classic A-line dress with a long train and a statement back, but comfort was really important to me too — I wanted to be able to wear my dress for as much of the day as possible. Over the years, I’d seen details on friends’ dresses that I loved, particularly delicate pearl-covered buttons and sheer elements.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS SHOPPING EXPERIENCE AT CHERISH THE BRIDE, WEST KIRBY (@CHERISHTHEBRIDE).
When I saw this dress in the very first shop I visited, I just knew it was going to be my dress. The delicate sequined boning on the back, the pearl buttons running all the way down the train, and the big bow made it feel so special and statement without losing that timeless, classic feel I’d always wanted — and as a 5ft 11″ bride, I was thrilled that it was the right length on me with low block heels and didn’t need any alterations. I felt like I was floating in it: elegant, comfortable and completely myself.
HOW DID SAM REACT TO SEEING YOU IN YOUR WEDDING DRESS?
One of my favourite memories from our wedding day was walking down the aisle and seeing Sam’s beaming smile as he looked back at me. After all the anticipation of finding my dress and keeping it a secret from him, seeing his face in that moment was incredibly moving — it reminded me that, underneath all the excitement and the many eyes on me, all that mattered was us.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING.
Our day was split between the ceremony at St Bridget’s, my local family church in West Kirby, and our reception at the magnificent Soughton Hall in Northop — a venue I’d loved for many years, so it was a real dream come true. It was the May bank holiday weekend and the sun shone for us, and the little personal touches meant so much: tables named after places we’d travelled together, colourful seasonal May blooms, and two alpaca friends at the reception — a nod to one of Sam’s early Christmas gifts. The most special moment was looking around the dance floor and seeing everyone we love dancing, laughing, and celebrating together.
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THIS GOWN
Stella York Style 7711 brings a little princess energy and a lot of modern glamour to one of bridal’s most beloved silhouettes. A ballgown wedding dress is defined by its fitted bodice and dramatically full skirt — a silhouette that creates a sweeping, grand-entrance effect and one of the most striking shapes in bridal fashion. Style 7711 delivers exactly that: lustrous Mikado, a beautifully sculpted strapless bodice, and a full skirt that moves with every step.
Stella York bridal styles span the full range of what brides are looking for — from soft tulle and delicate lace to the structured glamour of a ballgown like this one — all at an accessible price. But whatever the silhouette, the details are where each gown earns its moment. Here, the real standout is the back: sheer fabric with sparkling seam details and an oversized detachable bow add an unexpected layer of runway drama. And yes — it has pockets. This gown is also available in plus sizes through our EveryBody/EveryBride program.
