Real Stella York Bride Kara and Hayden

Real Stella York Bride Kara & Hayden

On their very first date, Real Stella York Bride Kara knew Hayden was the one. The couple exchanged vows surrounded by friends, family and their two beloved dogs, who served as their “Best Dog” and “Dog of Honour.”

Kara wanted a lace dress that felt elegant yet modern. She fell in love with Stella York Style 7941, only the second dress she tried on. With its shimmering lace, detailed straps and high leg slit, the gown looked just as stunning with her heels as it did with her white cowboy boots. Continue reading for all of the details on their sweet love story, the dog-approved proposal and how Kara found her dream dress.

KARA, TELL US ABOUT YOUR PARTNER. HOW DID YOU MEET?

Hayden is the kindest, most thoughtful, funny and generous person I know. He is a mechanic and loves to help make my life as easy as possible. He helped with every part of wedding planning—except the dress, of course! We met through mutual friends, and on our first date, we discovered that we both share the same favorite movie, “The Blind Side.” At that moment, I knew it was meant to be.

WHAT WAS YOUR PROPOSAL LIKE?

We have two dogs whom we absolutely adore, so Hayden made sure they were part of the proposal. He put a bandana on each dog—one read, “Dad has,” and the other read, “a question.” Once I said yes, he surprised me with a supper he had planned with both of our families.

DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE.

I have always loved lace dresses. I wanted my wedding dress to be modern yet rustic so I could pair it with my classy heels and white cowboy boots. The lace and shimmering details made the gown so beautiful. The high leg slit was a must, so I could dance all night long and show off my boots. I also loved how the detailed straps paired so wonderfully with the bun in my hair.

HOW DID YOU FEEL IN YOUR GOWN ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?

I felt the most beautiful I have ever felt in my life on my wedding day. I truly felt like a bride! My dress was only the second one I tried on, and my mother-in-law immediately said, “This is a Kara dress!” It just suited me perfectly.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING.

Our wedding day was our favorite day ever! Hayden and I got ready surrounded by our family and friends. Our dogs joined the ceremony as our “Best Dog” and “Dog of Honour.” We exchanged personal vows, which were very special to share with everyone.

Our reception was so much fun! We secretly took dance lessons for our first dance, and everyone was shocked when Hayden started dancing—he has never danced in public before. I also dedicated my bouquet to my mom. Mothers get so little recognition during weddings compared to fathers. I wanted to thank my mom for being a wonderful mom and for all her help throughout the wedding experience.

We made sure everyone felt included by giving each bridesmaid a personalized role, and Hayden’s best friend officiated our ceremony. With help from our families, we also made all of our decorations to give the celebration a personal touch. It was such a happy day, and I couldn’t stop smiling!
