Real bride Erica on her wedding day

Real Essense of Australia Bride Erica & Trey

Erica and Trey’s love story began as high school friends and blossomed into a love story filled with adventure. Their windswept engagement on the beaches of La Jolla was nothing short of unforgettable, especially as a hurricane and earthquake rolled in. When it came time for the pair to say “I do,” they chose a setting as extraordinary as their love. Surrounded by loved ones and a surprise venue location, their wedding was a breathtaking blend of romance, whimsy and elegance.

ERICA, TELL US ABOUT YOUR PARTNER. HOW DID YOU MEET?

Trey and I have known each other since high school. We grew up in the same hometown, and always considered each other good friends. It wasn’t until I moved away for college and came home for the summer that we realized we had the potential to be more than friends. We have been together for nine years!

Trey proposed to me on the beaches of La Jolla in San Diego, California. We took a road trip with our dog Charlie, to celebrate his second birthday. I would love to say it was perfect, but like all things in life, there were elements we had no control over. There was a hurricane rolling in when Trey proposed, and we also experienced our first earthquake that weekend. To say it was a memorable weekend is putting it lightly!

My bridal style is timeless and modern. I wanted to look ethereal and angelic on my wedding day!

Essense of Australia Style D3634 was my dream dress because I knew I could add accessories to dress it up for the ceremony and then show the dress off during the reception. It made me feel like a goddess. I wanted something I would be comfortable in and be able to dance in all night long. I knew that I did not want a reception dress to change into so it was very important to find the right dress I could wear for 12 hours straight!

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING.

Trey and I have always loved adventure, so when we discovered Valley of Fire on a road trip in 2019, we knew it was special. Six years later, it became the backdrop for our wedding. We loaded 75 of our favorite people onto two party buses with no clue where they were headed. As the fiery red rocks came into view, their excitement was unforgettable.

We asked our guests to wear all black for a chic contrast to the desert backdrop. In our typical fashion, we incorporated some untraditional things into our ceremony. My father was the officiant, and Trey and I walked down the aisle together. We are best friends, so it only felt right to enter this next phase of our lives hand and hand.

After our ceremony we got back on the party buses and made our way to our reception space. I was absolutely stunned to see the gorgeous transformation of our spot. We draped everything in white and added gorgeous black and white elements paired with green and cream florals. The hanging greenery and disco ball dance floor piece really tied in our dinner space.

We enjoyed dinner under sparkling bistro lights. I truly can’t put into words how beautiful and perfect my visions were brought to life! After dinner we enjoyed live music and danced and talked all night long!
