What started as a chance meeting in Potrero quickly evolved into a love story filled with adventure, spontaneity and undeniable magic. When it came time to say “I do,” the couple chose to celebrate with an intimate jungle wedding on family land, thoughtfully personal details at every turn and a gown that was whimsical, free and undeniably Daniela.

DANIELA, TELL US ABOUT YOUR PARTNER. HOW DID YOU MEET?
Tom and I met in Potrero, Costa Rica while I was out there for my cousin’s wedding. On the day of the wedding, Tom’s brother and my friend ended up crashing the wedding! It was all good, though; they were the life of the party!
The following day, my friend and I were off to Arenal, thinking we’d never see Potrero again. That same night, I received a message over Instagram from a random user. It was Tom! He had gotten my Instagram from his brother. In the message, Tom wished we could’ve met properly, and if my friend and I were ever in town again, he and his brother would gladly host us. My friend and I took one look at each other and knew exactly what the other was thinking…we’re heading back to Potrero.
We spent the last weekend of our trip adventuring around, diving, sailing and dancing. It was absolutely magical. Tom and I have been inseparable ever since.
WHAT WAS YOUR PROPOSAL LIKE?
When Tom proposed, he knew I didn’t want it to be a big, flashy moment, so he asked me to marry him while we were cozy in bed, where I feel the happiest. It was perfect.
DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE.
I would say my bridal style was jungle fairytale. I wanted to look like a whimsical forest fairy, which is definitely how I felt on my wedding day. The moment I saw the All Who Wander georgi gown I knew it was the one for me.
I had such a hard time trying on dresses because everything felt too formal. And when I looked at different elopement dresses, they seemed too simple for what I was looking for. But my dress had the perfect balance that I was dreaming of.
HOW DID TOM REACT WHEN HE FIRST SAW YOU IN YOUR DRESS?
The first time Tom saw me in my wedding dress was when I walked down the aisle. He definitely teared up when he saw me, but what really got him was when I read part of my vows to him in French, which is his native language.
TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING.
I wanted our wedding day to be the most “us” it could possibly be. We had a small, intimate wedding on Tom’s parents’ property in Costa Rica. There were about 40 guests, which included our immediate family and a few of our dearest friends. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
We were able to add so many personal and sentimental touches to our wedding day. We had personalized coconuts that welcomed our guests into the jungle, and one of my best friends surprised us with a live artist who painted a beautiful portrait throughout the evening. I think the sweetest thing we were able to incorporate was handwritten letters to each of our guests, which we used as their place cards for dinner.
WHAT WAS THE MOST SPECIAL MEMORY FROM THE DAY?
I think the most special memory from the whole day was jumping into the pool with my husband, while wearing my reception dress, and the rest of our friends and family jumping in right after. It was so fun!
