Decoding The Royal Guest List

Who is invited to Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding?

The party of the month? No! The royal wedding will be the party of the year. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding will be the wedding of the year and an invite to the wedding is what’s on everyone’s mind. With a litany of high profile pals, this power couple will have a tough time narrowing down who gets an RSVP. Here’s what we know about the big day’s witnesses so far.

While there won’t be as many guests as Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton, you can expect the usual royals to attend – Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Queen and Prince Phillip, Will and Kate and their children, of course. Harry’s cousins the Eugenie and Beatrice will be in attendance as well. Harry and Ms. Markle will also invite 2,640 members of the public on the day including 1,200 people, who have demonstrated strong leadership in their communities around the UK.

Only about 600 people have been invited to the actual ceremony at Saint George’s Chapel on may 19th, though, as the venue itself seats about 800 total.

Will any celebrities be invited to the royal wedding?

No doubt Meghan will invite her crowd of Hollywood A-listers and you can bet Harry’s celebrity pals won’t be kept off the list either. Along with Meghan’s castmates from Suites, Serena Williams, actress Priyanka Chopra, stylist Jessica Mulroney and Millie Mackintosh have all made the cut. Elton John, who was a close friend of Harry’s late mother Diana will also be in attendance. Victoria and David Beckham are also rumored to be invited along with the fashion designer’s former bandmates from the Spice Girls. No word yet on if they will perform.

Who of Meghan Markle’s family is invited to the wedding?

Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, is said to be attending along with her father, Thomas Markle Sr who is said to be walking the bride down the aisle. While the typically quiet father-of-the-bride has shied away from the public eye, he does maintain a close relationship with his daughter.

According to The Sun, Meghan’s older half-siblings, Thomas Markle Jr and Samantha Markle, will not be invited on the big day.

Her nephew, Thomas Jr’s son Tyler Dooley, and his mother Tracey Dooley, are also rumored to have been left off the guest list.

Will political leaders like Donald Trumps and Theresa May be invited?

Both President Trump and Theresa May will not be receiving invitations to the royal wedding. Neither will former president Barack Obama. Although Harry and the former US president struck up a friendship at the last Invictus Games, because of the political climate, neither Barack or his wife Michelle will receive an invitation. Because the wedding is not a state occasion, there is no standard list or protocol for which political leaders must be invited. Instead, priority went to friends and family of the couple.
