Real Essense of Australia Bride Emilyanne + Trey

Lots of champagne and many happy tears were shed during Emilyanne and Trey’s wedding. The bride chose to customize a stunning Essense of Australia wedding dress for the Massachusetts nuptials. Congrats to this happy couple!

The proposal

It all took place on this little piece of heaven that we call home in West Tisbury, on Lambert’s Cove Beach. Every Tuesday night we had a designated date night, this night was Trey’s turn to pick. He chose to have takeout and head to the beach for the sunset. In anticipation for his proposal, I remember him asking me to leave my phone in the car, which I initially thought nothing of but soon after realized it was because he knew I would be on it non-stop after telling all our family and friends. The walk to Lambert’s Cove Beach is definitely a bit of a hike, but as we were walking up the top of the hill to the start of the beach boardwalk to the shore, Trey started to put the cooler and his chair down. At this point, my only worry was that we would miss the sunset since our take-out dinner took longer than expected.

As he took both my hands into his he started to express just how much he loved me and what I meant to him, and our life together. As he finished his thoughts, in one breath, he took the ring out of his pocket and knelt down on one knee. At this point I was in such shock I just knelt down, hugged him as hard as I could and said YES. We embraced each other and then continued down the walkway on to the beach, trying to stay calm as we could as if we didn’t just get engaged. As I looked up I saw a table, chairs, champagne and cake his father had arranged minutes before we arrived. It was magical, and beautiful and everything else that I could have ever asked to feel in a night that meant so much.

I don’t think any food was eaten that night, we sat together, drank champagne, and cheers as we talked about our love and reminisced on our relationship. After sunset, we stopped by his father’s house and as I hugged him, I just burst into tears, while Trey’s stepmother popped another bottle of champagne in celebration. As we called and texted our closest friends we laughed and smiled (and cried some more) about the beautiful future we were going to have together.

Finding the perfect Essense of Australia Wedding dress

My first and only appointment was at Alexandra’s Boutique which was an unbelievable experience. I brought my Mom, sisters and two other bridesmaids with me. I wanted to look simple but elegant, not too much of a ballgown, but also not too simple. The first dress I tried on was my number one favorite dress Essense of Australia #D2174. But as dress shopping goes you have to try everything on to be sure; as much as I loved the dress, it was not exactly what I wanted for my special day. After a few more dresses I narrowed it down to the #D2174 and the #D2473. I loved the lace and I loved the simplicity of the second, but I was torn between those two dresses. At this point, my stylist looked at me and said “give me one minute I think I have the dress for you,” and with purpose turned away and was on a mission to retrieve the dress she had in mind. She came back with Style #D2396. At first, I was unsure, because of the straps, but every other part of the dress was a perfect mix between lace and crepe.

As I tried it on and walked out to the pedestal, I looked in the mirror and it seemed to fit my body type perfectly and my heart was full. I looked around at my mother, my sisters and my bridesmaids and with almost tears in my eyes, I said “Yes!” to the dress and we popped champagne to celebrate! Later on in the process, I ended up contacting Essense of Australia and ordering more fabric for my dress and creating a scoop back with about a half an inch thicker straps. My seamstress, Megan, at Alexandra’s Boutique did an incredible job with the work on my dress. I didn’t even have to say a word during my fittings, she pinned away, and made it into exactly what I had dreamed of.

The wedding details

As we started to plan our wedding we had a rustic but elegant vision in mind. We originally looked into barn weddings but ultimately wanted to do something with a bit of a different venue so we contacted a childhood friend of my Fathers. Their daughter is also one of my best friends and a bridesmaid in the wedding. We asked if we could use their gorgeous property, and they said yes! We had an outdoor ceremony with a custom white birch arbor covered in greens and various white flowers. We sprinkled lanterns down the aisle with flowers around them that matched our beautiful arbor. All of the flowers at our wedding were various greens and white flowers with lavender. We rented a large sail-cloth tent with 4 peaks held up with large wooden poles. We filled the tent with dark wood farm tables paired with Chiavari chairs, decorated with greens, white flowers & lavender, and candles scattered within. The bridesmaids wore lilac and the groomsmen wore a light grey, accented with a light purple. Our cake was a yellow cake with layers of strawberries and buttercream, topped with greens and white flowers. In addition to the cake, we also had a candy bar! Trey and I are candy lovers at heart and always love to grab a little sweet wherever we go; so together we each picked a few of our favorite candies and had them displayed across a table for our own little personal touch to share with our loved ones.

As we both love music and dancing we had an amazing DJ well known to our family and friends, Sterling Bishop. He played everything we loved, got the entire wedding party and all the guests on the dance floor for the rest of the night! He was engaging and great with all of our guests, making it a night we will never forget. As we danced the night away, surrounded by the ones we loved the most, we had a deep happiness, gratefulness for how truly amazing our day had been. We ended the night with a little magic and a little light, outside the tent and under the stars with sparklers and champagne where our photographer Larisa captured the most beautiful night-cap photos that we will cherish. We truly had the most amazing experience we could have ever asked for. With all the ones we love the most bringing it all together, to make it as special as it was, we will be forever thankful.
