How to Wear the 90s Beauty Trend at Your Wedding

Glamazon’s start your engines! Bold is back! Everything has it’s time in the sun and in the world of the 90’s beauty trends are back in the limelight sans the thin brows and over drawn obvious lip liner! Everything old is new again and so doing it second time round for some of us there is an epic revival and some cool changes to add to our repertoire, as for those who are new comers to the 90’s trend the style will seem fresh, modern and sexy which is an obvious choice for your wedding makeup.

My eyebrows remember the 90’s well, but it’s a new era and a new day for the 90’s beauty trend so embrace this hot trend and work these looks for your big day.

The 90’s were known for blue eyeshadow, matte vampy lips, body glitter and grunge eyeliner. All have entered a new era and taken the 2017 beauty trends by storm. Say bye bye to barely there looks and hello to bold!

To be fair to the era there were not as many makeup companies or colours to choose from and boy the technology behind the products were lacking some serious R&D. We never had You Tube makeup tutorials thus our application was appalling and makeup artistry wasn’t even an accessible career or something that you could source from like it is today. So looking back I can see how some might think this trend isn’t wedding appropriate, I say glamour is never out of style. Classic 90’s is HOT HOT HOT!

Let’s look at some ways to wear the 90’s in 2017!

BLUE SHADOW – Forget the frost! You can leave that look out in the cold! To wear this look flawlessly apply rich jewel tone hues of intense blue to give a more polished and modern take on all that was frost. Apply the look in a more graphic way. These perfect smoldering navy or cerulean mermaid eyes are sublime for a destination beach wedding.

BURGUNDY BROWN LIPS-The most popular lip colour of that decade was a dark brown berry lip. There was no escaping that lipstick. Seen on civilians or celebrities this was the lip colour Du Jour. It would round off a beautiful natural makeup or amp up a bolder look. This is great look for an autumn wedding. Step away from the Matte finish and go with a modern day stain or add a slick of gloss and wear with a subtle foundation and lashings of black mascara.

GLITTER –Glitter was playful and EVERYWHERE in the 90’s! I mean yes, we wore it on our chests, actually, we pretty much put it everywhere-hair, face, chest- oh my!!!! 2017 glitter gets a make under is much more chic. Placement is mainly on the eyes, making it more sophisticated but lighting the eyes in a playful way. For your big day, add a sprinkling of glitter to your eyes to add light and love to your makeup. Keep it to your eyelids or corners of your eyes to add some sparkle to your wedding makeup.

GRUNGE LINER – Say “I DO” to this sexy bold eye lining look. 90’s grunge was “Heroin Chic” 2017’s look is more rebellious and sexy. Just line both your waterline and your eye with a black kohl liner and using a smudging brush – smudge away. Add some black shadow over the liner to help the liner stay and it also helps your smoldering game! Make sure you wing out the look elongating your eye and add some waterproof mascara to complete the look! Siren sexy on your wedding day!
