How To: Holiday Glam

2016 has had many makeup hits and misses with some that missed more than hit. This holiday season, join the Glitterati and sashay in my absolute favourite holiday glam look which is the glitter trend. Without a doubt it is the prettiest and most dazzling trend of 2016. Little, twinkling glittery sparkles makes a big impact this party season. Shiny, metallic lips have become so chic and on trend and it’s more fun than attention grabbing. Microfine sparkles lining the crease line on your eyes creates elegance and glamour in a playful way or sweep it across your liner or lids for a bit of glitz and glam. Here are two ways to wear these scintillating grown up glitter looks this holiday season.

GLITTER LIPS
When the MOTHER of all makeup Pat McGrath, creates immaculate shimmering wine-red lips, you know this is a trend to pay attention to. Since the world watched the gorgeous Bella Hadid swan down the runway for Versace wearing this look, it has sparked an instant social media obsession.

How To: Apply a soft velvety rich lip color to your lips, making sure you line your lips for that crisp edge. For evening, use a decadent wine color. Then layer the lipstick with a metallic pigment then add gloss. Final step is to press a microfine glitter to your gloss for dramatic intensity! Keep the rest of your makeup look clean and fresh. Remember fun doesn’t mean carnival! But it’s ok to turn your look up a notch.

GLITTER EYES
Precious metals have never looked so good. Silver, bronze and copper swept over your lids create a wash of brilliance. Whether worn as liner or a complete wash over the eye, this trend will set your makeup ablaze with a luxurious shine and twinkle to your eyes.

How To: Gild your lids first by applying a metallic cream eyeshadow with your fingers in the area you wish to add glitter. Then just dampen your synthetic makeup brush and dip into mixing medium to liquefy your precious gem pigment and paint a glistening sheen over the cream base. The mixing medium will create a long-lasting hold and help brighten your eyelids or even gild lips with a sparkling opacity and brilliance. Line eyes and spotlight features like your inner eye corners. Then press on a small amount of glitter while still damp for better hold. Hold a tissue to your face to catch any fine fallout. Use only a tiny amount of glitter to dissuade any glitter bombs on your face. Less microfine glitter works best. TIP- keep some tape handy to pick up any fallout the may occur.
