What wedding dress trends are hot right now in Illinois?
The trends are as different as every bride who comes into our boutique. Color is big right now, shades of blush or champagne. Some brides are loving the trend back to ball gowns and satin, others are still loving lace and fit-n-flare silhouettes. The most popular trend right now is a “different” back. Some type of sleeve or strap detail; and always sweetheart necklines!
What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?
Surprisingly, modified a-lines; something fitted, but not too fitted. Amazing surprising backs!
How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?
All of our brides work one on one with an experienced and knowledgeable bridal consultant who will help them select the styles to try on and provide guidance with available changes and delivery. My staff is trained to listen to what the bride is asking for and give her the attention she needs to find her dream wedding gown.
What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?
We had a bride shopping for a “steam punk” type of wedding gown. Sara, one of our consultants, researched that style and helped this bride find the perfect bridal gown.
What’s your favorite wedding story from one of your brides?
One of my favorite recent stories is from one of our brides who bought a fit-n-flare lace wedding gown that she decided to take out of the store for alterations. The seamstress told her that the fit was as good as it could be. We had her bring the dress back in on a Tuesday and our seamstress tailored it to perfectly fit her body by Thursday working long hours to make sure that our bride looked and felt her best on her wedding day.
What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding gown?
My best advice to brides shopping for their wedding gown is to limit the number of guests she brings shopping with her. Friends are friends because they compliment and bring something different to our lives. Bring people with you who truly know who you are and want what’s best for you. Ultimately, your wedding day is uniquely yours and should reflect your vision for that day. Your friends will have their day too.
