We asked White Lace & Promises all about the Knoxville bridal shop and what’s trending in the Tennessee bridal market:

What wedding dress trends are hot right now in your area?

Our brides currently love sleeves and lace. From a cap sleeve to long sleeves, the sleeves make all the difference! And lace will always be a hot trend here in East Tennessee!

What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?

Most of our brides are asking for wedding gowns with an interesting back. Whether that may be a keyhole, illusion, or a low back, it is the back that sells the wedding dress!

How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?

At White Lace and Promises, we let the bride shop around the salon first. We tour the bride around the store and let her pick the wedding gowns she wants to try on. We find that when a bride has some freedom in choosing her own wedding dress, she is more relaxed about the whole experience. As the appointment goes on, the consultant strengthens the relationship between her and the bride and is then able to pull some potential picks that matches her needs. When the bride “says yes to the dress”, the White Lace and Promises consultants bring a cupcake with a candle to the bride and wish her the best of luck in her new journey as a wife.

What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?

We have gotten a few requests for a bridal gown with brighter colored hues in the skirt of the dress or a gown made out of a printed patterns. For the East Tennessee area, this is a little unusual for us!

What’s your favorite wedding story from one of your brides?

One of our brides had a parent who had terminal cancer and their dying wish was to see their daughter try on wedding gowns. The bride at the time, wasn’t engaged yet, but went through the entire appointment just like a regular bride! The happiness she ensued through the appointment was priceless and no other moment could bring down her or her parents. Just a few short months later, the parent passed away, but that moment will last forever. The bride ended up returning to our salon a year later, with a ring on her finger, and she purchased her favorite wedding dress from that initial appointment with her parents.

What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding gown?

Come into the appointment with an open mind! Most of the time the wedding dress that you have been envisioning yourself in is not the one you’ll say yes too! Try not to hold on so tightly to the Pinterest version of your wedding and be open to trying different silhouettes, fabrics, and styles. While keeping an open mind, try not to cloud your judgment. Limit yourself to trying on less than 30 wedding gowns. Trust us, most of our brides say yes to one of the first five they try on!
