That need, coupled with a strong desire work with and inspire young women, brought the idea of opening The Bridal Boutique by MaeMeto life! Open nearly five years, they have provided the brides of Metairie a trendy, yet classic boutique with a cozy atmosphere and the friendliest of staff.
We asked the staff of The Bridal Boutique by MaeMe all about their Metairie bridal shop and what’s currently trending in the Louisiana bridal market:
What wedding dress trends are hot right now in your area?
Lace is still extremely popular among our brides; however, modern, clean lines are becoming more popular and ballgowns are making a comeback, too!
What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?
Our brides are asking for intricate beading that will help them to stand apart- beaded straps, beaded backs, beaded cap sleeves, and beaded bodices!
How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?
We give a bride the experience she has hoped for! Everyday, we meet brides that have been disappointed, discouraged, and overwhelmed in their shopping experience. We become their support, their encouragement, and their friend. Our stylists are well-versed in wedding gowns, but more importantly, they are trained to really listen to the bride and to offer her and her family more than just a wedding dress!
What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?
A hot pink, ombre, fully-feather custom wedding gown! Yes, that is true!
What’s your favorite wedding story from one of your brides?
Our biggest supporter and most genuine #realbride was a plus-size bride who entered our boutique in tears because she felt defeated. She and her husband are both wheel-chair dependent, and after visiting several places, she had given up hope on finding anything that would remotely resemble a suitable wedding gown for her special day. We were her last shot. I talked with her for a while and encouraged her to describe to me her absolute dream dress. Well, we made it happen! With the support of one of my vendors, she received a one-of-a kind, perfectly-suited, satin gown with sleeves and beaded detail. The look on her face when we fitted the gown for her could cure the world!
What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding gown?
Focus on the marriage, not just the party. The celebration is important, but the relationship is the real prize! Bring 2 or 3 really supportive people with you to shop- the people who love you and are on your team. Don’t shop until you are ready to fall in love, and keep an open mind. Trust your stylist, and allow yourself to feel beautiful!
