Real Stella York Bride: Michelle + Andrew

Stella bride Michelle was truly a princess for a day. After all, if there’s any day a woman should feel like royalty, it’s on her wedding day! She perfectly accented her Stella York ball gown with a tiara – a replica of Queen Victoria’s no less – and exquisite sapphire and diamond jewelry reminiscent of Jackie O’s. Her fairytale wedding was picture perfect, and full of eternal love. Cheers to her modern day happily-ever-after!

From the bride: My wedding finally happened after 9 years of waiting. Sometimes it just takes a little bit longer to get to the altar. For our anniversary (February 12th), Andrew (my now husband) flew us to Boston to stay at the Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel. After dinner at the Union Oyster House, we walked back to the hotel to the viewing area to see the bay. He tried to look through the binoculars to see a lighthouse, and told me to look to see if I could see it. Then he proceeded to tell me he had to tie his shoe, I of course thought that was the oddest thing ever. I turned around and ruined the proposal! I of course gave him no time to get the box out because I was supposed to be looking for a lighthouse. I said yes of course, I mean after waiting 9 years, there should be no question. The ring was a sapphire ring surrounded in a halo of diamonds. I love sapphires, and I didn’t want a normal diamond, I wanted something different. We walked back into the hotel and I could finally see my sparkling ring in all its’ glory! It was perfect and he designed it, which made it that much better. We flew back to Chesapeake, Virginia, and got married a year later.

I chose my wedding location because I wanted something historical and classic. Founders Inn is like walking back into the 1700s with the Colonial mansions, but with all the conveniences of modern times.

Everything about my wedding was like a modern version of a fairy tale. I wanted a princess wedding gown, but had a jacket made because I like the look of lace sleeves. Maya Couture ordered extra lace from my Stella York wedding dress and made me a matching jacket. My tiara was a replica of Queen Victoria’s. My jewelry was reminiscent of Jackie O and everything was sapphires and diamonds. I loved it! We had a Rolls Royce drive us from St. Gregory’s Catholic Church back to Founders Inn and in that moment I felt like a real princess.

The most special memory from the day was during the speeches. My Maid and Matron of Honor gave great speeches on our relationship through the years. Then my Uncle Danny decided to give a speech because he wasn’t letting me off that easy. I thought he would give me a hard time, but instead he decided to tell me about how proud my Nanny and Papou (my grandparents) would be of me if they were still here. He said they were still looking down on me. It was a real tear jerker! I didn’t cry at all during my wedding ceremony, but one mention of my grandparents who were like parents to me broke me down. I wish they could have been there, but they were there in spirit which is what matters.

My wedding turned out perfectly. I mean, sure, I had the mishap of my garter falling down my leg when I walked down the aisle, but I didn’t fall which is what matters. I loved my wedding and my Stella York wedding dress, which was perfect. Everything about the day was truly amazing.
