The Proposal
Joe proposed on the evening of Saturday, September 22, 2018. I was on my way back from dinner with my friend Nell. I opened our apartment door to see Joe standing there, surrounded by lit candles and red roses. Tears fell from my cheeks instantly! As Joe got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, joy filled my entire heart! After the proposal, Joe asked if I wanted to go to our apartment rooftop for a champagne toast. As we walked onto the rooftop, all of our friends and family were there! More tears began to flow! It was a magical night filled with so much love and celebration. It is a night I will never forget!
Finding the Perfect Stella York Wedding Dress
I purchased my Stella York at The Bridal Room in McLean, VA. My mom, mother-in-law, aunt and Grammy came with me to help me pick out my perfect wedding dress, Stella York Style 6763. The women at The Bridal Room were so amazing and made me feel so special and comfortable. They asked me what I was looking for in my dress. I told them I wanted a dress that was simple, sleek and elegant. A dress that would make me feel feminine and bridal.
After trying on about 12 dresses, I tried on a simple and sleek Stella York ballgown. I turned to the mirror and said, “I can’t believe how much I love it!” I walked out of the dressing room and my mother-in-law said, “That’s it! You don’t even need to try on any more dresses!” And she was right! As I said yes to the dress, tears fell from my cheeks. I couldn’t believe I had found my dress and I couldn’t believe how amazing I felt in it!
The Wedding Details
I would say the theme of our wedding was rustic and whimsical romance. The barn at Riverside on the Potomac was filled with white flowers, greenery and candles. The bridesmaids wore petal pink dresses and the groomsmen wore navy blue tuxes. The white flowers really made the dresses and tuxes pop. It was perfect for a summer August wedding! Joe and I love candles, so having the tables and the barn walls lined with candles was perfect for us! Even though we had a larger wedding in a big barn, it felt so romantic and intimate to us. When we had our first dance, it was like we were the only two in the room.
By far, the most special memory of the day was being surrounded by everyone that we love. Friends and family flew in from all over the country, and even from Germany and London to be there to celebrate with us! Having 179 people who have shaped us into the people we are today in one room for a whole night, there isn’t a better feeling in the world! I felt blessed beyond words all night long!
