Real Stella York Bride Erica + Eddie

Erica and Eddie didn’t let Hurricane Patricia get in the way of having a simple, outdoor wedding next to the Frio River in Texas. The bride wore a Stella York gown, which gave her the dreamy look she was hoping for. Cheers to the happy couple!

From the bride: Like any bride, one of the first things you do in the wedding planning process is shop for ‘the dress’. My dress shopping experience was probably very different than most. I didn’t have anyone go with me because I didn’t want to be swayed or influenced by anyone else’s opinions or visions other than my own. I wanted to focus on me and my dream and the way I envisioned myself to look on MY wedding day. I knew from the moment I spotted the Stella York 6025 on the racks that it was it. It was light, soft, simplistic and everything I needed for our riverfront wedding.

Our wedding was magical and everything I ever wanted. It was small, intimate, private and at a dreamy location right along the Frio River. We picked this location because it is the very location in which I spent each summer growing up and it was the same place that Eddie proposed to me a few years prior. We invited our immediate families (which includes both our parents, one sister each and their spouses and children) and chose one friend each to include. We shared the most magical day of our entire lives with those few people who knew us best. Those who knew our journey, our love and our story.

Leading up to our wedding day, Hurricane Patricia hit Texas the day before our wedding. I was a frantic mess but we stuck it out. I was going to marry my prince charming whether we were standing under an umbrella or the big oak trees like we originally planned. The morning of our wedding, we woke up to clear blue skies, a cool 65 degrees and the sun was shining bright! Eddie and I exchanged letters while we each got ready and though I think I cried away most of my makeup, it was truly a special moment. While our guests were getting seated, away at a small distance away from the ceremony site, I shared a truly emotional and special first look with my dad. There I was, in my wedding dress, tears already streaming down my face and ready to be a married woman. He turned around and it was a moment I will never ever forget for the rest of my life. His face, his tears, his words of affirmation and joy were unforgettable and I can only hope that one day, my daughter can experience that with her dad. If I could encourage any bride to do a first look it would be to share it with the first man who ever loved you: your dad.
