Bride Carrie wanted a vintage feel with a touch of sparkle at her Georgia wedding to groom Chris. Before starting to plan her wedding, Carrie saw herself as more of a rustic bride. However, once planning got underway, she realized her bridal version was more classic romantic.Â
The ProposalÂ
Chris proposed in a park where we had our first kiss four years earlier. He had told me we were getting lunch with friends nearby, but when we arrived, the friends called and said their dog had pooped everywhere. (They were in on it!) We decided to walk around anyways, and he got down on one knee in our special spot. He even had friends hiding in the bushes taking pictures!
The Wedding Details
My wedding vision has always been rustic. However, once I started looking at venues and dresses, I realized I wanted a little bit of classic romanticism, too. We settle on our venue, Flint Hill, because it allowed us to do both. It is a charming old house with a rustic patio in the back. We added lots of greenery and wooden decorations for our rustic vibe.
I settled on Style 6793 from designer Stella York after initially picking an all crepe dress… I felt that 6793 was the perfect bridge of a modern mermaid look while also having a romantic, elegant sparkle.
We envisioned the wedding as being mismatched and rustic, with dusty blues, dark reds and lots of greenery. It was February 1st, so the deep red and greenery helped bring in the (end) of the winter season while also being rustic. I picked mismatched blue dresses for my bridesmaids because I wanted to be a little less traditional and bring in some fun variety, and I wanted them to be in dresses they liked. The guys wore navy suits with dusty blue ties and succulent boutonnieres. We had one of our best friends get ordained online and officiate… the three of us wrote our ceremony together so that it would be personalized and meaningful. My husband and I are big dessert people… so we went crazy on our dessert table! Our desserts were bomb. We did a display of cheesecakes and cupcakes. Chris handmade the wooden displays and they turned out beautiful. We had a family friend make all of our desserts… some of the best cheesecake I’ve ever had.
My fondest memory of the wedding day was being surrounded by so many loved ones. We felt so lucky to have people come from near and far to celebrate us. I had the biggest smile the whole night as I greeted my loved ones, and I felt overjoyed to be able to share our love story with everyone.Â
