Having a winter wedding was bride Alexandria’s dream! And that dream came true at her winter-inspired wedding to Justin on January 4, 2020. Touches of emerald green, silver and gold gave guests the feeling of a winter wonderland while Alexandria’s gorgeous Stella York wedding dress tied the whole thing together!
The Proposal
Justin and I got engaged on December 21st, 2018, and that was the best day of my life, second to our wedding day! My mom and I spent the day getting our nails done, talking about life and ate lunch together. My mom, who is an openly emotional person, was acting a little strange that day (lol)! After our little mother-daughter day, I went home to get ready for a double date with our best friends. Even though I was getting ready for what I thought would be another typical double date with our friends, something did feel a little bit different leading up to this double date. I absolutely adore everything about the Christmas season, such as the food, the music, lights, hallmark movies, and spending time with my family and friends… and Justin knows how much that all means to me. Once we were all ready we went to see the Christmas lights display in Batesville, AR.
As we were walking around looking at the lights my bestie, Ashton, found some lights she thought would be good for us all to take pictures in front of. So, first I took Ashton & Dylan’s picture, and then she took mine and Justin’s. After she took our picture she started to walk up to me (I thought she was giving me my phone back) and reached into her purse, pulls out this present and hands it to me with a big smile on her face. It was at that moment I thought, “Ok, this really might be happening!” I unwrapped the present to find a custom Christmas ornament that read, “marry me?” After I read that I looked up and Justin was getting down on one knee when he asked me to marry him! I was so speechless that I just nodded “yes” because I couldn’t even form words!
Finding the perfect Stella York wedding dress
I found my dress at Lows Bridal in Brinkley, AR, where I had the BEST experience! When I went dress shopping I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but I knew the things that I didn’t want in the most important dress I would ever wear. My consultant, Harley, was amazing! She was very quick to learn my personality, my likes and dislikes, and what I envisioned myself in.Â
After the 3rd dress I tried on I was starting to feel discouraged and mentally saw the possibility that I could be leaving the store without a dress (which is terrifying when you’re a bride). Harley explained to me that she had a dress in mind for me downstairs that she thought I would really like. When she brought it up to me (still in the bag) I knew she picked out a good one! Then, when I put it on, I knew I really loved it! I walked out to show my family where we put a veil on to complete the look, and after that, all of the exciting and magical feelings started to flood me with tears! I knew I had found THE dress, Style 6852!
The wedding details
Overall, I feel like my bridal style was very winteresque, with classy and rustic touches! On January 4, I had the winter wedding of my dreams! My colors were emerald green and white with touches of silver and gold here and there. Fur and pinecones were definitely involved throughout the decor.
The whole day was completely special! I would say my favorite memories involve getting ready, such as having my mother and matron of honor put me in my dress, in addition to doing a “first look” with my bridesmaids (I hid my dress from them, which was super hard, but I wanted them to be surprised!), following with a “first look” with my dad, and lastly with my husband. I cried each time! It was so special because there are so many emotions going on within you at one time, and when I saw the look on their faces looking back at me, it was just, ahhh, I can’t even explain the feeling, but it was absolutely magical and I will remember it forever!
