Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, Lexie Smith, stunned in a glamorous, romantic Martina Liana gown on her wedding day. She went for the White Lace over White Gown color combination for a traditional, bridal look. While wedding planning can be daunting, Lexie loved the process of creating her dream wedding. She was over the moon when her best friend, Grant proposed and they’re now happily married, congratulations Lexie and Grant! Read their sweet love story below.
The Proposal
Grant and I were at a college graduation for his little brother, Dillon, when he popped the question (sorry little bro! haha). The ceremony had just ended and we were outside with the whole family waiting to meet with Dillon. Dillon loves photography and Grant mentioned that he needed a new headshot for work, so he was going to have Dillon take a quick photo because of how pretty the campus is. The three of us separated from the family and began looking for a spot. They seemed to take forever on finding the perfect spot. I was so tired and just wanted them to get the show on the road! “How does this look?” Grant asked. “Yeah, yeah that’s fine.” I replied. I am a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and had just finished a rigorous tryout process the day before. My feet were achy and I was extremely sore. I couldn’t wait to get back to the car to sit down. FINALLY they found a spot, and I sat down on a nearby bench to take my heels off. I was seriously in pain from the auditions! Right before I was about to untie my heel Grant said “Hey Lex just take one with me before I do them by myself.” Ahhhh ok.. if you insist. I walked over and posed with Grant. He said “Let’s do one back to back.” I honestly didn’t even think twice because I was just trying to get the pics done with haha. LOOK AT THAT CHEEKY GRIN!!! He was feeling bold apparently! Posing with the ring box before I even knew. After I turned around from being back to back he was down on one knee! I truly don’t think I have ever been so surprised!!! All I ever wanted was to be surprised. If he planned a fancy dinner or a big vacation, I would have known about the engagement immediately. The fact that it was graduation day for Dillon totally threw me for a loop! Grant had the perfect speech planned and I immediately began to shake! MY BEST FRIEND HAD JUST PROPOSED! I was so shocked and filled with happiness. We hugged Dillon and left to head to dinner. The surprises kept coming! Grant had planned an engagement dinner with all of our family and friends. It was the perfect ending to an amazing day!
The Dress: Martina Liana 942
I was that bride that tried on a ton of dresses… I am the type of person that has to see a lot of options before deciding. I tried on at least one of each style but ultimately concluded that I wanted something fitted with slim straps. I went into Bridal Boutique (for the second time) knowing that they would be able to help me find my dream dress. When Amy brought in the Martina Liana gown I knew that it had all of the qualities I was looking for. I tried it on and fell even more in love! The train was gorgeous and the beading made the gown pop. I also loved that the shoulder straps added a romantic element. I ended up ordering in ivory/ivory which I SOOO happy with! I loved the classic white look. I added custom appliques to the bottom of the dress to enhance it even more. I loved my gown and wish that I could wear it again!
I absolutely loved wedding planning. I know it’s not for everyone, but I really enjoyed looking into all of the options and trying to piece it all together. Of course, it was stressful at times but totally worth it!
It’s hard to choose the most special memory… the entire day was absolutely amazing! Seeing each detail come together into one big picture was very gratifying. One moment that stood out to both my husband and I was when our officiant had us lookout to the crowd during our ceremony. The officiant talked about our support systems and encouraged everyone to help us uphold our vows. I will forever have that mental image of our loved ones staring back at us. It was so special to have all of our family in friends in one place and know that they will be there to encourage us and support us in our marriage.
