Leiaa and Tyler’s wedding, to us, is the epitome of why two people get married: real, honest love. By incorporating sweet sentimental details into their day, this couple’s wedding turned out beautifully. Leiaa chose a stunning Martina Liana wedding dress with sleeves to accentuate her fall color palette, and touches of burgundy to tie it all together.
The Proposal
Tyler did a surprise dinner proposal at a restaurant that I had never been to before. He proposed in front of my family and closest friends. What I thought was just a sweet anniversary dinner turned out to be both our three year anniversary and proposal!
Finding the perfect Martina Liana Wedding Dress
I always knew that I wanted to get married in late fall. I have always loved long sleeve lace wedding dresses. And while trying on wedding dresses, I also learned that I love halter style dresses and fitted dresses. I would describe my style as a little bit of sexy, but also elegant and timeless. After trying on a ton of gowns, I decided to look for a fit and flare silhouette, and something with a long train because I live for a wow moment!Â
I searched for what I envisioned but did not find it until I came across Martina Liana’s Style 1111 long sleeve on Something Blue’s Instagram. It was absolutely breathtaking. I called the shop and made an appointment ASAP. They did not have the long sleeve in store, but even trying-on the sleeveless option and it being open back which I typically do not do, somehow I knew this was MY dress! Overall my dress shopping experience was amazing! I learned a lot about myself. I have become even more confident and I have embraced my beautiful body, flaws and all.
On my wedding day I wanted to look regal, I wanted to look and feel like a queen. I wanted to show my curves and my confidence. Most of all I wanted my husband to see the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid eyes on, and that is exactly how I felt.Â
The Wedding Details
My colors were burgundy, ivory and gold. These colors to me exude beauty, strength, and elegance; burgundy also signifies boldness. Gold reminds me of fall. Ivory is soft and ties both colors together. My theme entailed a little bit of vintage elegance and a little modern with a hint of rustic flare.
Tyler and I travel together a lot. Specifically each year we go to the smoky mountains in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The burgundy and gold, and the photos we took in front of the waterfall ties in our love and respect to nature… and each memory from every adventure we have shared there.
The ceremony itself was definitely my favorite part. I remember walking down the aisle and I remember how emotional I felt. Seeing my husband’s face was incredible. We wrote our own vows which made the moment truly special.
We have overcome obstacles of not everyone agreeing with our love because of race. We have overcome personal endeavors and grown together. And through it all, we remain best friends.
