When it came to her wedding day, Ashley wanted it to be a magical day not only for her and her husband, but also for the ones she loves the most. With their fairytale engagement at Walt Disney World, their wedding was bound to involve a hint of pixie dust. To add to the magic, Ashley selected a princess-worthy Martina Liana gown. Tell us about your proposal…
Chris and I had planned our anniversary trip to Disney World right before Christmas 2019. When we arrived at Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Chris asked me if I wanted to take a picture with Mickey Mouse. Of course, I said yes and we got in line. When it was our turn to take a picture, Chris got down on one knee and proposed. I was in total shock! I was crying tears of joy and said “YES!” Afterwards, we FaceTimed our parents and then enjoyed Magic Kingdom for the rest of the evening. It was truly the most magical day.
How did you know that Martina Liana Style 1000 was the ONE?
My bridal style is more romantic and elegant. I wanted a wedding dress that would be timeless, but at the same time I wanted it to be fun and have a little sparkle. My dress shopping experience was the best! The very first (and last) bridal shop I visited was Brickhouse Bridal in The Woodlands. Paris, my bridal consultant, was AMAZING! The very first dress I put on was Martina Liana Style 1000, and I just knew that was THE dress! I tried on more dresses but kept comparing each one back to that first dress. My mom, meemaw, and MOH all were there with me and everyone agreed. I said yes to dress!
What was the overall aesthetic you wanted for your big day?Â
I wanted my wedding to look and feel romantic. I also wanted it to be simple and elegant. My colors were champagne gold, light pink, and navy blue. We chose a Chateau style venue and it was perfect! We had a large ceremony hoop arch covered in greenery, white garden roses, pink garden roses, and hydrangeas. My bridal bouquet was made of the same flowers as well. Our welcome sign said “Once in a lifetime love brings you a fairytale, welcome to ours”.
It sounds like family was a very important part of your wedding. What was one special memory from that day?Â
The most special memory from our wedding day was our last dance with everyone. The DJ played “Sweet Caroline” and EVERYONE joined us on the dance floor. That song has a very sentimental meaning to our family. My cousin Caroline passed away when she was 15 from Leukemia. She was my very best friend. It was the perfect way to honor her and include her in our wedding day.
