Real Essense of Australia Bride Yuri + David

Here at Pretty.Happy.Love, we love a good Cali wedding – especially when theĀ bougainvillea flowers are in bloom and ready for a photo-op! Real Essense of Australia bride Yuri married her sweetheart David in the most perfect California-style wedding and we’ve got to say, we’re swooning! Read on for more of the deets!

The Proposal

For the past few years, we have hosted “Friendsgiving” with 40 of our closest friends. We move all of the furniture out of our living room, set up banquet tables, and everything is potluck style. Friendsgiving 2016 was one for the books! I told David that the turkey was out of the oven and he needed to cut it. (I guess that was his cue!!) He gathered everyone for a toast (which I thought was a little strange since we hadn’t even served food…), he gave a beautiful speech with highlights from the past year, got down on one knee, and proposed in front of 40 of our friends! Friendsgiving basically turned into our engagement party.

Shopping for the Dress

I wasn’t one of those brides that had a Pinterest board full of dresses, and I honestly had no idea what I wanted! Our venue was all outdoors, so I didn’t want anything too formal. I went to a few boutiques and loved a few Essense of Australia dresses. I love the dress I picked- it had the beautiful open back, unique cross-hatched beading, and was super comfortable!

The Wedding Details

David and I are known for Moscow Mules. Every time we have guests over, we make a Moscow Mule in a copper mug. We decided that we wanted our favor to be a Moscow Mule cup for our guests to take home, so a copper/rose gold theme was born! I wanted soft colors since it was a Spring wedding, and wanted the decor to complement the already beautiful outdoor venue. We fell in love with the venue because of the natural, outdoor beauty, and wanted to make sure it really shined!

The Best Part?

How do I pick just one special memory from such an amazing day? One that really stands out was our personal vows that we shared with each other. We wanted to personalize our ceremony, so we each wrote our own vows. David did such a great job mixing his sense of humor with his loving side. Everyone was laughing, crying, smiling- it was great! The best line was his last: “Now that we got so fit for the wedding, I can’t wait to get fat together.”
