It takes a special bride to rock a celestial wedding gown on her wedding day. Tell us about your proposal…
We went on a trip to Florida with our friends and Zach popped the question in front of Hogwarts Castle at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Orlando. I grew up reading the books, and Zach knew that watching the movies together during our early days of dating held a special place in both of our hearts.
How did you know that Essense of Australia Style D3209 was the one?
I wanted to find a dress that was both comfortable and classic. I had no idea that I would be able to get both—with a magical twist! I actually found this dress while browsing online and immediately fell in love with the stars that brought such a unique design to a classic look. I jokingly started calling it my ‘magical dress’ and called multiple salons to see if they could order a sample dress for me to try on. I ended up at The Bridal Room VA and as soon as I had that dress on, I looked in the mirror, smiled at my mom and said “This is it! This is my magical dress!”
How did you make your wedding personal to your style and love story?
We chose colors that really popped for our special day. We mixed navy, mulberry, and gold within the greenery and everything looked gorgeous! We went with a very subtle nod to Harry Potter so that it wasn’t covering the entire wedding, and since Zach and I also share a love for baseball, we added special touches throughout that highlighted both. From Hogwarts House color-changing cups as the favors to a “please sign our baseball bat” guestbook, our wedding remained fun and playful for all. It doesn’t make sense on paper (magic and baseball), but it was perfect to us which is something we were told by many that mattered most!
What was the most memorable part of your wedding?
Before we were introduced into the reception, Zach and I walked down toward the water and took five minutes for just ourselves to take everything in. We didn’t say much, just looked at each other, looked back at our entire reception having a great time and even took a selfie. We’ll always remember those five private minutes as a special moment on our special day!
