Real Essense of Australia Bride Georgina + Derek

In the past year many wedding plans changed as couples navigated unprecedented times. Georgina is one of many ‘pandemic brides’ who had to postpone their wedding more than once.  However, there was nothing that could stop the love between Georgina and her groom Derek. In a much smaller setting than originally planned, the two lovebirds tied the knot in a quaint and intimate ceremony. Georgina’s Essense of Australia Style D2770 gown added a beautiful shimmer to a magical day.

Tell us about your proposal…

My husband and I took a trip to Cape Town, South Africa to visit my family. On the trip we went to this gorgeous botanical garden and while we were walking around we sat down on a bench under an olive tree and he proposed. When we got back to my parents house, my whole family was there for a celebration.

How did you know that Essense of Australia Style D2770 was the one?

Honestly, all I knew was I wanted to feel gorgeous and beautiful but didn’t know what that meant dress-wise. I went to so many different stores and tried on 30+ gowns. I went back to Ellie’s Bridal Boutique for a second time because I had a good feeling about all of my options there. My stylist pulled Style D2770 and I absolutely loved the vine-like pattern on it. The dress definitely had a sexy appeal to it with the sheer sides and low back but nothing too over the top. My favorite part of my dress was the scalloped train because I always envisioned myself having one and this one did not disappoint. I put the dress on and knew it was the one.

What was the overall aesthetic you wanted for your big day?

When I was originally planning my big wedding we were going for vibrant whites and pinks, but that will happen next June at a larger reception. For the intimate fall ceremony I decided that I wanted rich jewel tone colors. I asked for vibrant shades of fuschia, burgundy, pink and blues. Our wedding was so personal to us because it was just family and a few close friends.

What was the most special part of your day?

The most special memory of the wedding day was celebrating it with family and a few friends. It was the first time all of our families had been together since two of my husband’s siblings had been living in Europe. It was so special to all be together. The weather was absolutely perfect  and we were so lucky to all get to be outside and enjoy the gorgeous venue.
