Real Essense of Australia Bride Elizabeth + Kris

Taking the non-traditional route, Elizabeth and Kris had an intimate family-only ceremony in their hometown, and had a destination wedding shoot taken on their honeymoon in Cancun. Elizabeth’s Essense of Australia wedding dress could not have looked more beautiful against the bright blue backdrop of the water, and the two of them could not have looked more in love. Congrats!

From the bride: Kris and I met online. We had our first date on 09/20/14 and the connection was instantaneous! Since then, we have been inseparable. Within two days our relationship was official. He was the answer to my prayers. He is everything that I prayed for and more. On the second day of knowing him, I took him to church with me, and he basically met my entire family on that day. When he said he enjoyed it, and that he wanted to come again, I knew he was “the one”.

We got engaged on February 21st, 2015. It was a very special day! We were staying at our favorite place on the coast in Rockaway, Oregon. Earlier in the day, we took a walk on the beach and we found the most beautiful spot. It was perfect. We walked along a creek and found a picturesque place. There was a deck with a bench right above the creek and it overlooked the ocean. It gave you the best of both views. It was absolutely stunning.

Later in the evening, he took me back to that same location to watch the sunset. We were talking away while sitting on the bench, when all of a sudden, he surprised me. He got down on one knee and said, “Elizabeth, you’re my best friend. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” Of course I instantly and excitedly said, “YES!”

I was a non-traditional bride. We wanted our wedding to be stress free and stress free it was! Kris and I got married on June 19th, 2015 in Lownsdale Square in our hometown of Portland, Oregon. It was a small, short and sweet ceremony that included just a handful of our closest family members. My most memorable moment from that day is marrying my best friend, who was handpicked for me, by God. I am a lucky woman who gets to genuinely say that I married my soulmate.

We had our honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico and our formal wedding photos taken on Isla Mujeres. Our wedding and photos ended up being everything we envisioned and more. We wouldn’t have done anything differently. My advice to other brides is to do what is important to you. Although family is extremely valuable in one’s life, it’s not their special day. It’s imperative to do what is important to you and your husband-to-be!
