The Dressing Room offers the ultimate in service and selection while shopping with special friends for a bride’s special day. Working with her daughter-in-law, Christina, they put a focus towards today’s modern bride.
We asked Judy all about the St. Petersburg bridal shop, and what’s currently trending in the Florida bridal market:
What wedding dress trends are hot right now in your area?
Because I dress so many brides here in Florida that choose to have their weddings outdoors, I am often asked for soft and flowing gowns that are also figure flattering. Â I would say lace wedding dresses are a steady trend as well.
What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?
They are asking to look amazing. They want that ‘wow’ factor with a glamorous touch. They also want an excellent fit – the alterations must be spot on.
How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?
I see only one bride at a time, so the store is all hers. Family and friends really enjoy the exclusivity as well. Â I allow photos and refreshments. Â I interview the bride before pulling any styles she may wish to try on and try to manage her expectations and really tailor the appointment to her likes and wishes.
What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?
After almost nine years, I think the brides who are getting married overseas seem to come up with some very interesting requests.  I enjoy challenges and, as far as I know, have successfully completed every one I’ve been given!
What’s your favorite wedding story from one of your brides?
I enjoy brides who are marrying at a somewhat older age either for the first time or the second time. Â Their stories are always heartwarming and prove love is always happening to women no matter what age they may be. Â I have also been touched by brides that have serious medical issues and overcame them to be beautiful and grateful brides on their wedding day.
What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding dress ?
Don’t bring too many people, and try not to schedule too many appointments in one day.  My best advice is always the same – select your gown from a positive  emotional reaction and have FUN during your appointment!
