Store of the Week: Tie the Knot Bridal Boutique in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Tie the Knot Bridal started as Allison Kline’s vision for her and her mother, Brenda, to be able to work together in an environment where they fulfill dreams every day. Allison  first worked in a bridal boutique while in college, and fell in love with the romance of helping brides find their perfect wedding dress. After seeing her first bride tear up when she found “THE dress”, her heart was set on bridal as a career! In December of 2006, her vision became a reality as she and Brenda opened their very own bridal shop, aptly named, “Tie the Knot”. After working with brides, Allison found a passion for the details of wedding planning, and soon Tie the Knot became more than just wedding gowns! Following her passion, Allison now runs Sash & Bow as a Wedding Planner, in conjunction with her mother, Brenda,  who now owns Tie the Knot.  Let’s take a tour of this all-in-one wedding planning destination!

We asked the mother/daughter duo all about the Green Bay bridal shop and what’s currently trending in the Wisconsin bridal market:

What wedding dress trends are hot right now in your area?

Lace wedding dresses are big for us right now.  Lace is classic and traditional but Essense of Australia and Stella York dresses give them a modern flair.

What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?

Lace sheath gowns. Brides are asking for dresses that don’t require an extra crinoline to be worn underneath and like the way a sheath wedding gown falls on them.

How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?

Listening to what the bride’s vision is for her day. Not just the wedding dress, but the entire wedding vision. We recommend making an appointment for trying on bridal gowns so we have personal one-on-one time with the bride. Most appointments last about 1.5 -2 hours. By the end of the appointment, we have established a relationship with the bride as a friend and bridal consultant. If the bride purchases her gown from Tie the Knot Bridal, we congratulate her with a champagne toast!

What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?

I want this dress but in black. The dress, of course, didn’t come in solid black. She didn’t want white or ivory with black accents.  She wanted an all-black ball gown!

What’s your favorite wedding story from one of your brides?

We had a bride who bought her bridal gown about 18 months before her wedding. Come to find out she wanted to buy the wedding dress early because her Grandmother was very ill and probably wouldn’t live to see the wedding day. After purchasing her gown, the bride was able to bring her Grandma into the store to see her in the gown and veil and share a special time together. It was very emotional for everyone in the store.

What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding gown?

Don’t bring too many people to your appointment. A bride can get so confused by comments made by family members, friends, the groom’s family, etc. The bride needs to remember this is her day and her wedding dress. No one else knows how she feels in the dress. The bride is the only person who has the feeling of the right dress!
