Store of the Week: Princess Bridal

We asked the staff of The Princess Bridal all about their Spring bridal shop and what’s currently trending in the Texas bridal market:

What wedding dress trends are hot right now in your area?
We are in the South, so the Texas bride wants to wear her boots with her dress! They want LACE, lace & more lace! We love the back detail that designers are highlighting this season…ALL about the back! We have seen the return to detailed illusion shoulders, necklines and the gorgeous detail at the back of the gown which highlights the bride’s natural assets.

What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?
Detail……Our brides are definitely loving the return to a little more coverage on the shoulders, Illusion back & back detail is imperative for most brides and of course some lace.

How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?
Our shop has cozy individual seating areas for each bride, where her personal stylist will find out what her dream is for her wedding. We try to include her family in the shopping experience while remaining on Team Bride, so that the bride is able to determine exactly what makes her feel the most like “The Bride.” Our attention to detail, paying attention to the bride’s emotional needs while finding her dress, creating a relaxing atmosphere while we share in the first step to a new life all make her experience memorable. Our stylist love helping brides, if you ask them they will tell you that this is the best job ever!

What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?
My wedding is Saturday, I need a dress! I just don’t understand how these brides can wait until the last minute for a dress, I would be so stressed out. Please plan ahead, wedding dresses take four to six months to be made.

What’s your favorite wedding story from one of your brides?
My favorite bride in the last 10 years happens to be an Essense Bride. She came to the shop with her Mom & found a gorgeous gown that she just loved. We ordered the dress, it came in, she had alterations. The week of her wedding she took her dress and accessories with her to west Texas for a family camping trip before her wedding. Tragedy struck, the area they were camping in flooded & the bride was almost washed away but her father rescued her. The family lost their camper & all the wedding attire but they were alive! Her brother called me on Wednesday to tell me what had happened, the search for a replacement for her dress began. We were able to get her the same dress, so when she arrived covered in bruises to the store on Thursday we had our alterations lady available to get her fitted. Our seamstress worked all night to get her dress done for her. On Friday, she left with altered dress & new veil & new jewelry to head to her hill country wedding. It was beautiful weather for her Saturday wedding & the bride was breathtaking!

What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding gown?
Wedding dress shopping is different than your normal shopping, it is ALL about a feeling. Feeling like “The Bride.” Trust your stylist. She loves what she does, she has seen these dresses on a bride, she doesn’t see what you perceive to be your shortcomings, she looks at your body and finds dresses to accentuate all the good things you have going, she is on your side, she will listen to your dreams and wishes and pull dresses that match that, she will push you to try on things outside your comfort zone because when you trust her….that magical feeling will take over and you will become The Bride.
