Store of the Week: Novella Bridal

We asked the staff of Novella Bridal all about their San Francisco bridal shop and what’s currently trending in the California bridal market:

What wedding dress trends are hot right now in your area?
Deep v-necklines and illusion backs are so hot right now. Brides can’t get enough!

What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?
A lot of brides are wanting to see some soft, flowy A-line wedding dresses with not too much volume, and there’s always the classic strapless sweetheart lace fit and flare.

How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?
We’re a young, close-knit staff with a commitment to keeping this place pressure-free. You won’t catch us trying to talk a bride into a dress she’s not ready to choose. We’re more into educating brides on their options so that they can make informed decisions as they move along their search. Also, the head seamstress from our alterations team, the best in the city, is on-hand for consultations as brides try on gowns.

What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?
One bride asked us to help her find something really affordable since she’d already spent a ton of money buying fruit and vegetable costumes for the bridal party to wear. They planned to have a blender on display during the ceremony, so that at the “I do” moment, a friend could turn it on and blend a smoothie symbolizing the couple’s oneness. Funniest. Bride. Ever.

What’s your favorite wedding story from one of your brides?
One couple planned to surprise their family and friends with a vow renewal ceremony at what was supposed to be the groom’s 50th birthday party. So sweet, they came in together for every fitting.

What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding gown?
Right away, try wedding dresses with different silhouettes. That way, when you make your decision, you’ll feel confident that you chose the look you love most.
