Store of the Week: Felichia Bridal

We asked the staff of Felichia Bridal all about their Toronto bridal shop and what’s currently trending in the Ontario bridal market:

What wedding dress trends are hot right now in your area?
Illusion necklines have been a big trend for quite some time now and shows no signs of stopping – we love the delicate, elegant feel. The other look with fell in love with this season is the Martina Liana separates collection. It gives brides the opportunity to create their own unique look for their wedding, truly giving them their dream dress.

What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?
Structure and fit- The difficult aspect of dress shopping is that often the dresses are only a sample size and don’t always show how the dress will fit when tailored. That’s a big reason why we love the Martina Liana, Essense of Australia and Stella York dresses is that the quality structure and design so that certainly helps meet brides’ standards. Plus the added knowledge that the fit will only get better when it is her dress and has been perfectly fitted.

How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?
Bridal gown shopping is such a personal experience that it is really important to take the time to meet and get to know your bride as well as her friends & family. Its this tailored experience which we hope makes the brides experience memorable, comfortable and amazing.

What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?
We had a bride her fell in love with a Martina Liana separates illusion lace top and the bottom was a discontinued Martina Liana gown. She loved it so much that she actually purchased both the gown and top and worked closely with our store seamstress to have the two pieces sewn together. The final product was amazing and she fell in love the opportunity to create a truly one of a kind piece!

What’s your favorite wedding story from one of your brides?
One of my lovely brides had a unique wedding story. Her future husband actually planned the whole wedding himself, so everything was a complete secret. All our bride knew was the date of the wedding so as you can imagine she came in looking for a dress which could fit a lot of varying venues. We searched long and hard and found a fantastic beaded gown. She sent in her wedding photos after and her husband had planned a beautiful, intimate woodland ceremony. It looked like a beautiful day with a fun twist.

What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding gown?
Keep an open mind! The most common thing brides always tell me after they purchase their gown is ‘This is so different from what I thought I wanted!’ It’s so funny to meet brides who say “I don’t really like lace,” and then they say yes to a full lace dress. So yes, always be prepared to try anything, especially if a consultant suggests it!
