Store of the Week: Bustle in Baton Rouge, LA

Bustle owner, Sarah, decided to open the doors of her Baton Rouge, LA bridal shop after going through the process of shopping for her own wedding dress. Not finding the type of atmosphere and experience she had hoped for, she combined her love of bridal and customer service, and Bustle has now been open for over eight years. Getting to know the personality and style of each bride is key for the staff at Bustle as they work with brides to help them find the wedding dress of their dreams.

We asked the ladies of Bustle all about their Baton Rouge bridal shop and what’s currently trending in the Louisiana bridal market:

What wedding dress trends are hot right now in your area?

Lace! In the South, lace is always on trend. We love how Essense of Australia and Martina Liana dresses incorporate lace in traditional and modern ways. All of our brides are able to show their own unique styles, while staying true to their traditional roots.

What’s the number one thing your brides are asking for?

Our brides are asking for unique necklines – straps, illusion tops, and off-the-shoulder looks.

How do you make the bride’s experience memorable?

We all take the time to really get to know our brides and their friends and family. We like to have an understanding of the whole picture of their wedding when trying to find their gown, and this includes asking about their fiancé, how he proposed, where the wedding will be, etc. We end up joking around and learning a lot about our customers during the initial appointment, through later correspondence, and finally when picking up their gown. We’ve been invited to many weddings, and have lots of brides that keep in touch long after their big day.

What’s the most surprising request you’ve ever gotten from a bride?

We had a bride whose sister was previously one of our customers. The mom called the week before the younger sister’s appointment to let us know the older sister was flying in from out of state to surprise her. The older sister arrived here straight from the airport and hid in the store.  We even had one of our consultants secretly filming!  It was so sweet when she surprised her, we were all a little teary-eyed!

What is the best advice you would give a bride as she is shopping for her wedding gown?

Be open! We want you to look like yourself, but also your BEST self. We’ll help you find a gown that brings out the level of glam you want without overwhelming you. Also, be honest. Tell your consultant if you don’t like something and why. We’re on the same team!
