Real Stella York Bride Lauren + Luke

A very unexpected proposal topped off with a wonderfully romantic wedding, real Stella York bride Lauren’s wedding to groom Luke was magical from start to finish. We love how she paired her satin sheath illusion neckline wedding dress by designer Stella York with navy bridesmaid dresses and touches of pink flowers. Cheers to the happy couple!

From the bride: It was a Friday morning and I was getting ready for work. I was rushing as I was running late (as per usual!). I had not long gotten out of the shower and was standing in the bathroom in the nude, with a towel wrapped around my hair, when Luke came in and dragged me out into the bedroom telling me that I had to start packing for our weekend away. I was protesting that I would do it later when I noticed that he had our song – Big Jet Plane – playing in the background. He then knelt down and proposed!

I have always loved lace dresses and I always knew that I wanted to wear a lace dress. I wanted something that was fitted, but not too tight! I wanted a classic kind of hair style, and wanted to make sure that I didn’t look too made up and that I still looked like “me”. I saw photos of the dress that I ended up choosing in a bridal magazine (I saved photos of it on my phone!) – I absolutely fell in love with the detailing on the back of the dress! The first (and last!) shop that I looked at was Michele’s Bridal in Shepparton. I think myself, my mum, and my bridesmaids and another close friend were there for about 3 hours! I tried on lots of dresses, including the one from the magazine, and in the end, it was the one that I came back to! Michelle (the owner) was so lovely and made the whole experience really relaxed and enjoyable! I felt so special trying on wedding dresses and had such a fun day.

I knew right from the beginning that I wanted to have Navy bridesmaid dresses! I wanted them to be long, and I wanted each of the girls to feel comfortable in them. We chose navy suits for the guys to wear, and really loved them! I asked our florist for lots of different shades of pink in the bouquets, the flowers on the cake, and the flowers in the vases at the ceremony. I thought pink would look really pretty next to the navy and would look nice with the amazing flowers at the venue. We made our wedding personal to our love story by writing our own vows, having “Big Jet Plane” by Angus and Julia Stone as our bridal Waltz (we met at a music festival where Angus and Julia Stone were playing), and choosing other songs to use throughout the day and night that were special to us as a couple. My husband Luke also wrote one of the readings for the ceremony!

I loved the time that my husband Luke and I were able to spend together whilst we had our professional photos taken. We were able to chat just one-on-one about how each other’s mornings had been (preparing for the wedding!) and about our ceremony! It was special to have romantic photos taken together amongst the beautiful scenery.
