Real Stella York Bride: Lauren + Johnny

Drawing inspiration from Grand Central Terminal – the place they first met – Lauren and her husband, Johnny, created their dream New York wedding. Located at a gorgeous venue in the Hudson Valley, every detail was planned out, even down to the train-ticket-inspired escort cards. Lauren stunned in her Stella York wedding dress, and even though the weather wasn’t picture-perfect, her special day was.

From the bride: My husband proposed on October 4, 2013 in the middle of rush hour at Grand Central Terminal, in the very spot we met before our first date. Both of our families and friends were hiding up in the balcony and got to see the whole thing. They then all surprised us at the very same restaurant where we had our first date. It couldn’t have been a more perfect night. Exactly one year later, we were married.

It poured the entire morning of our wedding day. We had decided on an outdoor ceremony that needed to be moved inside to the alternative location the morning of. As a stressed-out bride, I thought my wedding day was ruined. I wish future brides could trust me when I say how meaningless the weather forecast actually was. To see my family and friends and all of the people who love and support me in one place was the most meaningful and important day of my life so far. Once I decided to “let go” and give it my all, the pictures in the rain came out better than if it was a bright sunny day. I wouldn’t have changed a thing for my rainy wedding day.

We chose the Mohonk Mountain House in the fall because there is no better place than the Hudson Valley for fall foliage. The Mohonk Mountain House is one of the number one visited locations for leaf peepers every year. We incorporated our proposal into the day by having the table numbers as Track Numbers as well as the Escort Cards designed to look like train tickets.

During dinner service, the sun came out for five minutes so we were able to run outside and take pictures in the garden where our ceremony was originally supposed to be. I wouldn’t change a single thing about my wedding day. We had the best time and I spent the entire reception on the dance floor. It was absolutely perfect.
