Real Stella York Bride Kim + Richard

Dreaming of somewhere warm and sunny to say their “I do’s,” real Stella York bride, Kim and her husband, Richard landing on the tropical destination Curacao. Surrounded by a small group of family and friends, the duo exchanged vows on a breathtaking private beach, dressed in their finest – Kim in a stunning Stella York gown and Richard in sophisticated light blue suit. From their first look to the sweet pup they rescued on their honeymoon, everything about this couple’s destination wedding story will make you smile. Congrats, you two!

From the bride: After proposing, Richard and I immediately started thinking about the best location to say our vows and get married. We live in the Netherlands and for a nice sunny wedding day you have to get married in the summer and hope for the best. Being both great outdoor and nature lovers, Richard said ‘What about Curacao’. We quickly googled ‘wedding Curacao’ – not a great idea if you’re not able to actually get married on Curacao, because believe me you will fall in love with the pictures at the first glance!- and in that moment we really already decided to make it happen. Curacao it is!

Our big day was exactly how we wanted it to be. With a small group of family and friends that we love on the most beautiful private beach. The decorations were a combination of white with pastel colored flowers. My beachy dress from Stella York was perfect for the location, it was even quite comfortable. Although some of our guest reacted shocked when we first told them we were getting married on Curacao, they were all overly enthusiastic after the wedding day and everyone claimed it to be a true perfect day. My big sister said to me that our wedding day made it clear to her that true love really exist and that you should never stop looking for that one special person until you have found him or her.

We were very Lucky that our most favorite photographer from Holland, Alexander Goethals, came with us to Curacao and create the most pretty images during the whole day. Looking at the pictures makes the memories from our day come alive again. the most important tip for futures brides is to really arrange your wedding day as you and your partner want it. Do not let it depend on what other people think. You only marry once and it truly is the most fantastic day of your life, so no concessions.

We also spent our honeymoon on Curacao and during that period we also rescued a little pup which was dumped between the garbage. We called her ‘Latika’ and she now lives happily ever after with us in Holland. The best wedding gift for me and Richard, which reminds us just how lucky we are that we were able to make our dream wedding come true, spend it with the most important people in our lives and even make a difference for a non human animal that needed our love and support.
Seeing my future husband, my everything on the morning before the ceremony in his suit and me in my wedding dress was the most beautiful moment of the day. I had to wait a while for him to get ready, while I was standing in another room already ready to go in my wedding dress. My stomach turned around a hundred times. I have never been that nervous in my entire life. Then finally..it was time! I could walk up to him. When I turned around the corner I saw him standing there with a big smile on his face and tears in his eyes. Holding the most beautiful wedding bouquet. He was dressed in a light blue suit, and I was laughing out loud in the first seconds I saw him because the prior days he had tried to convince me he would be wearing a white suit 🙂

I walked up towards him and we looked at each other full of happiness. This was the moment we had been waiting for since the first day of Christmas, when he proposed. Such a special moment for us both.
