Today on the blog, we’re sharing Katelyn and Tim’s very classic, ultra-elegant Virginia wedding! Katelyn had her heart set on one style of wedding dress and when she went into The Bridal Room, her consultant helped make that dream a reality.Â
The Proposal
After what seemed like a very busy Spring, Tim and I decided we needed a weekend away and chose to spend it in Washington D.C. It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon on the Mall. We spent time in museums and enjoyed the sights of our Nation’s Capital. As we approached the Capitol Building, Tim knew this was his chance. We proceeded to walk up to the fountain and after enjoying the view, he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. And I said yes!
Finding the perfect Stella York wedding dress
I’ve known since I was a little girl that I wanted my wedding dress to be classic and simple. I want to look back on my wedding dress and love it just as much as I did the day I wore it. I searched high and low for a beautiful A–line gown that would make me feel like a princess. Before I slipped into my Stella York dress for the first time, the bridal associate said “speak it into existence” for extra luck. At that moment I immediately knew this dress was the one I had been searching for and broke into tears. It was tailored, elegant, and sophisticated. It even had pockets! It was the perfect dress to marry my perfect guy.
The wedding details
For our wedding, we wanted a timeless and elegant feel that was warm and welcoming. Our wedding venue is a manor-style home located at the base of a beautiful mountain. We took inspiration from the serene setting for our color palette and selected navy blue, forest green, and bright white. For our cocktail hour, we had classical covers of our favorite pop songs play to elevate the mood and entertain our guests.
Tim and I love to dance and couldn’t wait to bust a move at our reception. We spent nine months choreographing our first dance with our instructor in order to match the grandeur of the music. The finale of our dance included a magnificent lift where Tim picked me up and spun me into his arms. On the day of our wedding, I was so nervous before we went out to dance in front of our friends and family. But as soon as the music came on, Tim and I hit every step perfectly and when it was time for the lift, the entire room cheered. It was simply amazing to share such an incredible experience with my husband!
