Real Stella York Bride Harriot + Matt

Real Stella York bride Harriot’s dream of having an English garden wedding came true the day she said “I do” to her lovely husband Matt. After a whirlwind proposal in Las Vegas, the two embarked on the journey to the altar by planning a wedding that was deeply personal. What we love most about these two is their commitment to staying true to themselves while planning a traditional English wedding.

From the bride: Matt and I got engaged overlooking the bellagio fountains in Las Vegas, in the beautiful restaurant Olives, it was Matt’s first time in America so we were already so excited. I had no idea it was going to happen so that just made it beyond perfect as the fountains went off and he got down on one knee!

Once we returned home and began to plan, we realised that so many of our friends already had their weddings booked so we needed to make sure our dates didn’t clash, which lead us to choose a date a bit further in advance than we had originally thought. But then I came to realise we had so much time it meant we could plan everything ourselves, I decided I wanted to do my own wedding venue decor. After a lot of Pinteresting, I had so many ideas and as the time came closer everything came together so perfectly! On the day of the wedding when the flowers had been added and all the final touches were done, it was such a lovely feeling knowing that all our hard work payed off, looking around thinking we did this!

Our venue was already so beautiful we just wanted to add some personal touches to make the day ours. When trying to decide what theme we wanted for our wedding we were stuck on fresh ideas that no one had done; I wanted a rustic secret garden theme as it really suited our venue bringing the outside in with all the big glass windows. The problem was that wasn’t something that hadn’t been done. So we came up with the secret gin garden! With my ideas of a rustic secret garden and our love for celebrating life with gin, it seemed like the perfect theme!

The dress was definitely the hardest part for me. I had dreamt of getting married for so long in my head I didn’t think I could ever find a dress that would be right, so I put off trying any for so long as I was so nervous. I’ll never forget standing in the shop looking at them all and my mum saying try this one with the long sleeves and my reply to that was, no way mum I’d never wear sleeves. How wrong was I? Once I had tried one on with sleeves I knew that was it my wedding dress would most definitely have sleeves! It wasn’t until I tried my Stella York dress on that all the dress worry went away! It had everything I dreamt of, the perfect back, beautiful lace and I couldn’t take it off!

It had been a tough year running up to the wedding and we just knew all we wanted was to enjoy every second of it! We learnt not to take anything for granted and enjoy every moment of life. All our friends and family felt the same way and after everything that had happened to have us all together on such a high was the best feeling in the world! There was definitely plenty of tears and emotion!

The photographs are one of the most enjoyable parts of the wedding, when you see the special moments captured, especially my face when I first saw Matt at the altar, is exactly how I felt at that time and I was so glad when I saw that it had been caught on camera! It’s was the most perfect day and once the day came I totally forgot about what could go wrong or if it would rain and enjoyed every moment! Now I just wish we could do it all over again!
