The best kind of love makes you want to shout it from the mountaintops, and that’s exactly what Stella Bride, Emma, and her husband did. Between the crystal-colored water, the beautiful blue sky, and her stunning Stella York lace wedding dress, Emma’s mountaintop ceremony was truly one-of-a-kind amazing.
From the bride: My proposal was very special; I’m from Wales, UK, and Bryce is from New Zealand. I took him home in May 2014 to meet all my family and friends. He decided to “go for a run” to my favourite beach near my home and asked me to pick him up. Once I got there, along the beach in stones was, “Will you marry me?” I, of course, was late, it was raining, and the poor guy was in a t-shirt on one knee shivering! It was so thoughtful and perfect.
We started planning a big wedding in New Zealand, from the excitement of the proposal so many friends and family were keen to come over. As the months passed, it kicked me that I couldn’t possibly ask people to spend so much money and travel 12,000 miles away. I feel as though I would get upset without all the close friends and family unable to make it. We came across Heli Weddings New Zealand online, and once we saw the pictures, we knew it was the option for us. Our big wedding got out of hand, was costing too much money for one day and wasn’t really reflecting our personalities.
We decided just to have our parents attend, and it was one of the best decisions we made. There was no stress; the only thing I had to do was choose my beautiful wedding dress. I’ve received so many compliments about it and I can’t wait to wear it again when we celebrate with all our friends. We hired two helicopters up to the location, and it was so cold, but you forgot all about it during the ceremony overlooking the beautiful landscape.
There are a few special moments that are always the classics: when your dad sees you for the first time, and, of course, that look your soon-to-be husband gives you when he sees you in your wedding dress. They both were so proud, and that’s a moment I will never forget.
I had a couple surprises throughout the day that my husband organised. First, being an arranged photo shoot with some horses that I had no idea about. As I work with horses, this was so special and thoughtful of him to do! Second being a surprise honeymoon to Moorea – he even confirmed it with my boss beforehand! I’m one very lucky lady!
