Wearing a very classic and clean Martina Liana ballgown, this bride added a beaded belt and a lace trim from her mother’s own dress to personalize the look. Read on for all the details!
The Proposal
Tyler told me that we were going to dinner at a restaurant that is located in a theatre in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana. When we were walking up to the restaurant, the marquee had “Will you marry me?” on it. I didn’t notice it – he had to point it out to me! I didn’t even think it was for me! I started to say, “oh how cute,” but the next thing I saw was Tyler down on one knee. After the proposal, we went to dinner, and our family and friends were waiting there to celebrate with us! It was the best night ever – second to our wedding!
Finding the perfect Martina Liana wedding dress
I wanted to look elegant, classic, and beautiful. I also have always wanted a wedding dress with a neat back. I wanted the dress to have a “wow” factor. I feel as though the dress was just that! I went dress shopping with just my mom. She knows me the very best! I’m from a small town in Louisiana, so we decided to go dress shopping in Little Rock, AR, where my mom’s sister and my cousin live. Once I tried on the dress and saw my mom tear up, I knew it was the one. We called my cousin to come to the store to see it, and she and her daughter came immediately. It made my cousin tear up too – something I’ve never seen! Her three-year-old daughter carried around the train calling it my “princess dress.” It was such a special day!
A special touch that we added to the dress was some of the lace from my mom’s wedding gown. We sewed it along the bottom underneath!
The wedding details
Our wedding was at a beautiful, brand new venue in my hometown of Ruston, Louisiana! The bridesmaids’ dresses were LulaKate, and the color was platinum! I was determined to have colorful flowers and wanted peonies and ranunculus in shades of pink accompanied by pops of yellow! Our florist did a phenomenal job with the bouquets and arrangements!
My cousin officiated the wedding ceremony, so it was very personal. He included childhood stories and personal stories of times spent with my husband and me. We added other personal touches as well. I LOVE pink flamingos, so I added a pink flamingo cake topper to the wedding cake! We also both love Disney, so we included a “be our guest” sign at the entrance sitting with the book.
I think the most special memories were the first time that my dad and my now husband saw me! Tyler and I decided to go the traditional route and did not have a first look. However, I had a first look with my dad, and his face was PRICELESS! Then, when I saw Tyler’s face as I was walking down the aisle, it felt like we were the only two people there! It was a special moment that I will never forget.
