Glam, glam and more GLAM! Michelle and Kenneth’s gorgeous wedding in Maryland can only be described as glamorous. The Belvedere Hotel was the setting for this incredible event that Michelle had been planning for so long and wow, we are so in love with how it turned out. The beautiful bride chose a figure-flattering Martina Liana designer dress for her wedding and we could not have picked a better one for her.
For Thanksgiving 2019, I traveled to my husband’s home town of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the first time in our three years of dating to visit his family. On Thanksgiving morning, Kenneth had his brother (a photographer) take photos of us at different landmarks around the city. My understanding was that we would frame these photos to hang in our newly purchased home. To my surprise, the last stop was on a beautiful bridge and Kenneth got down on one knee to ask me to spend the rest of our days together. Thanksgiving day, also happened to be my parents 33rd wedding anniversary – so my first thought was to call my parents – who live in Pennsylvania – to share the good news! My then fiance asked me to wait to call family until we arrived at his grandmother’s house – and when we did, not only was there a surprise engagement party, but my parents had flown to Milwaukee to make the experience even sweeter.
Finding the Perfect Martina Liana Wedding Dress
Walking into Kleinfeld, I knew I wanted a mermaid or trumpet style dress that would accentuate my figure. My Kleinfeld consultant, Kelsey Z. utilized my inspiration pictures to find the dress of my dreams – a Martina Liana gown (Style 906) that fit my curves like a glove! Martina Liana dresses are designed to fit full figure women, which allowed for minimal alterations. I am so blessed to have had a consultant who knew what would look best on my body and hit all of my “must haves”! I added a glam veil that completed my look, and once my family and fellow Kleinfeld brides saw the reveal – there was no need to search further – I said “Yes to the Dress!”
The Wedding Details
Our theme for the wedding was “Blacks Excellence.” We had accents of black, ivory and gold throughout the venue. This theme was personal for us because we wanted to celebrate black love and most importantly black people – especially with all of the injustice that was and continues to occur in our country. My married last name is now “Blacks” so it was fitting to honor a culture and people who made us the strong, independent people we are today!
But for me, the most special moment of the day was seeing my husband’s face during our first look! He was in awe of my dress and wedding day look.
