Real Martina Liana Bride Larissa + Christopher

Real Martina Liana Bride and her husband Chris narrowly avoided disaster on their wedding day. On her way to the wedding, Larissa got a call that pouring rain had forced the DJ to leave. Even though they had to move their entire wedding last minute, Larissa said it was “perfectly imperfect, full of love and laughter.” How sweet is that? Congratulations Larissa and Chris!

The Proposal

Chris and I have been together for 10 years. I was in nursing school at the time he proposed and in my final practicum so I wasn’t expecting to get engaged until after I was finished. We were FaceTiming with his family and Chris said he was going to go get a drink. His family knew what was going on and his mom asked where Chris went. Me, being oblivious as I usually am, brushed it off, and then I get a text from Chris saying he needed help upstairs. So I walked upstairs and there he was in the living room, the floor covered in rose petals and the fireplace mantle lit up with candles and an “L & C”. And I don’t remember the rest! I must’ve said yes haha.

The Dress: Style 1033

I wanted to look classy with a romantic side. Like we were in a romantic dreamy garden. I had gone to a previous bridal boutique and did not have the greatest dress shopping experience so I was hesitant heading into the Bridal Boutique. I had tried on dress after dress, mostly sparkly, which I wasn’t in to, so I said I want a floral dress, no sparkles. So the consultant pulled a dress matching this description, and voila! It was THE one. Instantly knew. The only dress that I said I loved. And to top it off and make it even more perfect, the most beautiful veil was put on and I could instantly see myself walking down the aisle to the man of my dreams!

The Wedding Details:

Our theme was a romantic dreamy garden. Our colors were blush, white, and rose gold. We added little personal touches throughout our wedding. I had a watercolour character drawn of myself, Chris, and our dog Rupert. We added this to the top of our menus and as our guest book. We used the “L&C” from our proposal to the cake table as well. Our ceremony was supposed to be at the Leduc Stone Barn Garden. It’s an opened frame wood barn with a long walkway up to it and relaxing little water features throughout. I always dreamed of having a long walk. However, on our way to the venue with the girls in the limo, I received a call from Chris’ brother, saying “The DJ packed up and left”. I said “what do you mean the DJ packed up and left”. He says  “It’s storming here, the wind is blowing and the rain is coming in at an angle. So I thought, what now, what are we going to do…well the only thing to do was go to the dreaded “Plan B”. We moved everything to our reception venue at the Edmonton Country Club. And by we, I mean our wonderful family and the groomsmen. The girls and I drove around and waited in the limo at the Club until everything was completed and then headed in to the venue. The time came to finally start the ceremony. I linked arms with my dad, Victor, and we walked down the aisle to Chris and the rest is history. It was the perfect wedding that I had always dreamed of, but it was perfectly imperfect, full of love and laughter.
