Real Martina Liana bride Katie married the man of her dreams in a stunning outdoor wedding. Scott proposed to Katie while they were scaling a mountainside in Thailand – how incredible is that? The Proposal
Scott and I met in Mexico so from day one, we knew we both shared a passion for travel. Thailand was always on our bucket list. After about a year of planning, Thailand was finally happening, however, Scott assured me a proposal was not part of the trip as there was no way he was bringing the ring overseas. After 3 weeks of traveling around the most beautiful country, on our VERY last day, we trekked up to stunning Na Nuang waterfall where we swam in the natural springs under the waterfall… little did I know that Scott was basically drowning trying to hold a $7 Amazon ring in his pocket with one hand and the other keeping him afloat… about 20 minutes later we decided it was time to get out and make our way back down the mountain. As we were climbing out on the slippery rocks, Scott asked me for my hand to help him up but to my surprise, I turned around to him on one knee with the soaking wet soggy box holding the $7 Amazon ring asking me to marry him… I’m pretty sure all of Thailand heard me scream in excitement.
The Dress
I went in with an open mind. You only get to experience trying on wedding dresses for the first time once in your life. It started with Pinterest where I came across many Martina Liana and Essense of Australia wedding gowns that I absolutely loved! So I then did my research and discovered a Trunk Show at Amanda Lina’s SYTTDC. So myself along with my mom, MOH, Scotts Mom and my grandma went and after only 5 dresses, I decided on my wedding dress which was exactly what I wanted – elegant yet a little sexy with a long train – Style 1059 was all of that and then some!
The Wedding Details
Our wedding day was perfect! The weather was not only perfect for our wedding day but also for the Thursday venue rehearsal and Friday night rehearsal dinner. The first thing I said when discussing venues is that I wanted as much of our wedding day outside. I grew up in the country and love the outdoors so that was the number one thing for me. We fell in love with not only the grounds at Bloomfield Gardens but also the way they do business – they do everything for you to minimize stress on the bride and groom which is huge. Their package includes everything from catering to florals to invitations, DJ, day of coordinator and so on. Our colour scheme was navy and greenery with colour pops of pink. We wanted everything to be super fun and easy going and that’s exactly what it was. It was perfect and we had so much fun. A little too much fun as we didn’t wake up until 2 the next day!
My favourite memory was that initial moment of seeing Scott for the first time and having him see me in the dress I had been talking about for the past year! However that brings me to mention the second favourite part of our day – the “first look” which to Scotts surprise was not in fact me – it was one of his good buddy’s dressed in gown, veil and all. The reaction was priceless and I could hear the howling of laughter all the way from the bridal suite. Scott told me afterwards that he was so nervous until that moment where he was able to let go of all his nerves and enjoy some good memorable humor.
