Pack your bags and get ready for the destination wedding of a lifetime! Real Essense of Australia bride, Whitney, had an intimate wedding that was nothing short of a dream come true. She danced the night away in her Essense of Australia beach wedding dress under the stars with her husband surrounded by fireworks and loved ones. Talk about a celebration! Photographer, Athena Luskan, was able to capture the romance of the evening perfectly.
From the Bride: The entire day from start to finish felt like a dream. The most-special memory would have to be marrying the man of my dreams. I remember a moment during our first dance on the beach under the stars; we had fireworks shooting up from the sand around us, the sound of the ocean waves just steps away, and as I looked into my husband’s eyes, we connected and shared an intimate moment, like it was only us there.
We knew as soon as we got engaged we wanted a destination wedding, and settled on Cancun, Mexico as the location. We kept the wedding small, having only 30 guests come to the beach for a week full of adventures, food, and fun. On Jan 22, 2015, we made it official. With our parents, siblings and closest family and friends present, Â we shared a sweet, intimate celebration at Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa. The ceremony took place shortly before sunset right on the beach with the beautiful Caribbean behind us. My dad walked me down the aisle for the ceremony. We exchanged handwritten vows, and as an added destination touch, we did a sand ceremony where each of us poured sand into a vase that represents our separate lives before marriage and then we poured the sand together representing our lives combining and never being separated again.
We began the reception right after sunset, also on the beach. We had a light-up dance floor in the sand and tiki torches lined up along the beach. For dinner we had a 4-course plated meal under the stars and danced all night long. It was the happiest day of our lives. Even though it was just a short while ago, both of us are still just floored by how perfect everything was. As a thank you to our family and friends we also arranged a private catamaran excursion during the trip where we all got to go snorkelling. So many life-long memories were created from one very special occasion that will last a lifetime. It’s exciting to start our lives together and can’t wait for all our future adventures and memories.
