Real bride Heather had a sweet, personal wedding to her husband Joey. As a girly girl, Heather didn’t expect to fall in love with a boho wedding dress from Essense of Australia, but she did! Heather’s wedding was pink and girly with fun personal touches throughout. Congratulations Heather and Joey – we’ll let her take it from here!
The Proposal
Joey and I met at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit in 2012. One afternoon, he told me he had won Detroit Tiger tickets at work for a game that night. He took me downtown to dinner before “the game.” After dinner, we started walking towards Comerica park and then he took me on a little detour to the Fox Theatre where we first met. He got down on one knee and the rest was history!
The Dress
I’m a very girly girl. But, I like a simple but pretty look. The Boho look just got my attention. When I tried on my wedding dress at Bellissima Bridal, it was love at first sight. The lace detail, beading, sequins, the sheer fabric… I had that bridal moment as soon as I put it on. I got all teary-eyed and everything, it was perfect!
The Wedding Details
My wedding theme was floral and lacey. My colors were blush and gold. Flowers were different hues of blush and pinks with gold accents and linens. Our wedding was personal to our love story because it was 100% us. It was everything we dreamed of and more. Joey and I got married at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Once we starting going to St. John Vianney as a couple, we knew we had to get married there! Prior to getting married, Joey and I completed our confirmation together at our church. It was such a special moment for both of us and to have our wedding ceremony there just made it even more special!
I think my most special memory of our wedding day was the moment we said our vows. The feeling of Joey officially becoming my husband was one of the best feelings in the world! Words cannot describe. I really don’t know how I got so lucky!
