From the bride: Ben and I were set up through mutual friends six years ago. Brad, one of my closest friends who I have known from high school (and our wedding officiant) and his brother Marc, who helped Ben get his first job, bringing him to Pittsburgh, thought that Ben and I would be a great match. They were right!
Ben surprised me one spring weekend with a first-class trip to New York City, one of our favorite destinations. Before dinner on the first night Ben popped the question and we enjoyed our first weekend in the Big Apple as an engaged couple. The ring was a little big so I clenched my fist while walking around Manhattan for the entire two days.
We wanted our wedding to be classic, formal and rich in our personality. Our florist hit the nail on the head when she described our wedding as being like, “pink champagne bubbles at a black-tie wedding.”
I have lived my whole life with a severe dairy allergy. Every wedding we attend I barely gets to eat, so when it came to our big night, the menu was very important, especially dessert. We are also very sensitive to others with allergies, so we have a wide variety of main courses and an allergen friendly dessert table. Needless to say, I was excited, and Ben was happy to not have to eat dessert for two at this wedding.
It’s hard to pick just one memory from the day. It was perfect. But, if I had to pick, it would have been the moment I walked down the aisle. It was so overwhelming and emotional to see 150 of my family and closest friends in one room looking so happy and excited for our special day. I don’t think I’ll experience anything like it ever again.
